Cognitive Behavior Therapy

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment that focuses on identifying how humans act or behave and how that strongly affects our thought patterns. In treatment, clients will recognize and change thinking patterns that are getting in their way, break patterns of avoidance, gradually face feared situations, build coping skills, and reduce painful emotions. Homework is often assigned between each session so that skills and techniques can be practiced in the so called “real world.” CBT is considered a shorter term treatment that focuses on the present and is goal oriented.
